West Ham’s emerging talent, Mohammed Kudus, has expressed his admiration for Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara, citing the Spaniard’s creative prowess as a driving force behind his own style of play.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Kudus revealed that he looked up to Thiago during his developmental years, captivated by the midfielder’s ability to entertain and innovate on the field.
“I liked Thiago Alcantara a lot. I love players that play with creativity and try to entertain the fans, and you can see that from how I try to play. He was just too smooth for me,” Kudus remarked.
Reflecting on his encounter with Thiago during Ajax’s clash against Liverpool in the Champions League, Kudus acknowledged Thiago as the toughest opponent he has faced to date.
“Thiago, I will say, in the Champions League when Ajax played against Liverpool. But I wasn’t surprised because he is my favorite player. To even be that close to him, he was too smooth. You can never get close because he dictated the whole game,” Kudus recalled.
Despite his recent arrival at West Ham United from Ajax last summer, Kudus has quickly become an integral part of the team. With an impressive tally of 13 goals across all competitions, he has surpassed the achievements of renowned Ghanaian players like Andre Ayew, solidifying his place as a top performer for the Hammers.
