Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has commended Karela United for their spirited performance despite their 1-0 defeat to the Phobians in Matchday 11 of the Ghana Premier League.
The match, which coincided with Hearts of Oak’s 113th anniversary celebration, marked the team’s third consecutive victory under the guidance of Ouattara. The game’s only goal came in the third minute when Hamza Issah displayed excellent composure to capitalize on a pass and fire his team into an early lead. Hearts of Oak’s solid defense ensured they maintained their advantage until the final whistle.
After the match, Ouattara acknowledged the strong challenge posed by Karela United and applauded their efforts. “It was a tough match. Karela United gave us many problems, but the important thing is we won. Let’s congratulate Karela because they gave us a good game. They got some chances but could not utilize them,” he said.
The victory has propelled Hearts of Oak above their rivals, Asante Kotoko, who are now four places behind them in the league standings. Hearts are currently just four points adrift of the league leaders, keeping their hopes alive for a title push.
Looking ahead, the Phobians will aim to maintain their winning streak as they prepare to face Nsoatreman in their Week 12 fixture.
