Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) President, Mr. Kudjoe Finaoo has explained why this year’s President’s Cup involving the bitterest rivals will kick off late for the first time.
TheHearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko’s clash will kick off at 6 pm, GHALCA, who are organisers of the Cup match played in honour of sitting Ghanaian president, told Akoma FM in an interview after the official announcement.
“In our last two congresses, we brought this issue up for review, we brought the white paper out and not even a single line in that report stated that we can’t play in the evening,” Mr Fianoo explained.
“But we were waiting for tempers to calm and see to it that, there must be a starting point to tightening up security and also Educate the fans that football isn’t about fight.
“So, we have considered all these things and we believe that bringing back the love, demands that we put certain things behind us and move forward.”
The Porcupine Warriors from Kumasi have won the trophy six times whiles their rivals and opponents Accra Hearts of Oak SC have officially won the title four times.
The match will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium according to the organizers of the President’s Cup 2022.
