Hearts of Oak defeated Asante Kotoko by 2-1 to lift the 2022 Ghana President’s Cup on Friday night at the Accra Sports stadium.
The Super Clash produced three goals as against the stalemate in the previous clash in the Ghana Premier League at the same venue about a week ago.
Here are five major things we learned from the game.
1.Patrick Razak makes a big statement
The forward came off the bench to clinch a stoppage time winner for the Phobians and makes a big statement to coach Samuel Boadu who has relegated him out of the Hearts of Oak first team this season. This could really be a turning point for Razak at the team.
2.Samuel Boadu adds another title to his trophy collections
The former Medeama trainer knows how to lift trophies. He won the double last season with the Continental Club Masters and he has just added another minor title.
3.Sulley Muntaris is determined to make a mark
The former Inter Milan midfielder should normally be rested for this Cup game but that was not the case as Sulley played a big part to help Hearts of Oak win another trophy.
4.Kotoko loses Super Clash bragging right
The Porcupine Warriors have failed to win against their sworn rivals in their last four meetings across all competitions from last season. Hearts of Oak have won two with the other two games ending in stalemates. The Phobians are the Masters of the Super Clash as at now.
5.Etouga Mbellla is yet to score against Hearts of Oak
The Cameroonian striker is largely accepted as the best attacker in the Ghanaian championship this season after scoring 13 goals in 14 games but Etouga – in two games against the Phobians – is yet to shake the back of the net.
