Accra Hearts of Oak have rejected reports suggesting that players are unhappy with their welfare arrangements, insisting that the club provides adequate meals and support for its squad ahead of matches.
In a statement issued on October 8, 2026, the Phobians described the reports circulating in the media as misleading and maintained that the welfare of their players, technical team and officials remains a key priority.
The club explained that it offers employment conditions and welfare packages that it considers competitive, taking into account the prevailing economic circumstances.
According to Hearts of Oak, players selected for home matches receive dinner on the eve of the game, followed by breakfast, lunch and dinner on matchday.
For away fixtures, the club said players and officials are provided with three meals on both the day before the match and the day of the encounter.
The management therefore urged supporters and other stakeholders to disregard claims that the team was not receiving adequate meals before and during matches.
The clarification comes as Hearts of Oak prepare for Sunday’s Ghana Premier League meeting with newly promoted Port City, with the Accra-based side seeking to improve their results after an inconsistent start to the campaign.
Under head coach Nebojša Kapor, the Phobians have recorded two wins, two draws and one defeat in their opening five league matches.
The upcoming fixture presents an opportunity for the team to return to winning ways and build momentum as the season progresses.
Despite the reports surrounding player welfare, Hearts of Oak have reaffirmed their commitment to improving the conditions of their players and staff while pursuing success in domestic and continental competitions.
The statement was signed by the club’s management.
