Hearts of Oak legend Bernard Don Bortey has revealed the positive advise he offered to playmaker Salifu Ibrahim when the latter moved from Eleven Wonders to join the Phobians who are 2021 Champions of Ghana.
Don Bortey who spent ten years wearing the Phobian jersey made the revelation as the club continues to celebrate their first league title success in a decade.
One of the most important factors that helped Hearts of Oak to clinch the 2020/21 league title is star player Salifu and according the great Don Bortey the youngster indeed listened to his advice.
“When I heard that he (Salifu Ibrahim) had moved to Hearts of Oak I offered some advice to him and I am sure he did that.” Don Bortey said to Kessben FM.
“I had watched him at Eleven Wonders and saw his talent. The advice I gave him was that he should always train more than his teammates do. When the team trains once, he should train twice, when the team train twice he should make it three times in a day. This was what made me great and I offered this advice to him and see what he has achieved with Hearts of Oak” the legendary figure explained.
The performance of Hearts of Oak massively improved as soon as Salifu and coach Samuel Boadu arrived with the duo playing significant role in the title success of the club.
