Ghanaian football icon, Mohammed Polo, has showered praise on the current administration of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), led by Kurt Okraku, attributing it to the revival of football in the country.

Polo, a former Ghana international, commended the Okraku-led GFA for implementing various policies that have revitalized football from the grassroots level to the women’s game.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Polo expressed his admiration for the administration’s accomplishments, stating, “He has done tremendously well because there were huge expectations which brought a lot of tension on the GFA. This is one of the best GFA administrations I have ever seen.”

Highlighting the impact of Okraku’s leadership, Polo emphasized the significant improvement witnessed in Ghanaian football, which was previously stagnating.

“I have been in the system and seen a number of Ghana football administrations, and this is one of the best which has come and improved Ghana football because football was dead,” he remarked.

Polo, who also had a successful career as a player and coach for Hearts of Oak, acknowledged the challenges faced by previous administrations but noted the positive trajectory under Okraku’s leadership.

While acknowledging the achievements of past administrations, Polo underscored the tangible progress made under Okraku’s tenure, stating, “Someone will say Nyantakyi’s time, but he had a crop of players who were dedicated and that was the generation who couldn’t win the Afcon.”

He added, “Things were going from bad to worse, but this man, when he came, he was trying to put things in place, but the result wasn’t coming. Fortunately, he’s got another term, and we are seeing the result.”

Polo’s remarks reflect the widespread acknowledgment of the positive impact of Kurt Okraku’s leadership on Ghanaian football, signaling a promising future for the sport in the country.
