Hearts of Oak have announced the appointment of former Asante Kotoko and King Faisal coach Abubakar Ouattara as their new head coach.
Coach Ouattara has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Phobians, stepping in to replace Dutchman Martin Koopman.
The new head coach is set to commence training with his new squad next week, coinciding with the team’s return to the Pobiman training center following a friendly match against Techiman Eleven Wonders.
Ouattara brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the Technical Adviser for Moroccan side WAC from 2007 to 2023, contributing to their success in winning the CAF Champions League twice.
Additionally, he held a similar position as the Technical Director at TP Mazembe from 2006 to 2011, during which the team clinched the CAF Champions League title.
His managerial tenure also includes stints at domestic clubs such as Asante Kotoko and King Faisal in the early 2000s.
With a proven track record both domestically and on the continental stage, Ouattara aims to lead Hearts of Oak to further success during his tenure as head coach.
