Hearts of Oak have begun talks with CK Akonnor and three other top coaches for the vacant coaching job, according to reports in the local media.
The Phobians are currently without a substantive head coach following the sacking of Martin Koopman on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
Koopman was sacked following the team’s poor performance in the ongoing league season, where the team managed only two victories with six draws and two defeats after ten matches.
Per information available to us, Hearts of Oak are also in crunch talks with Bashiru Hayford, Yaw Preko, and an unnamed UK-based Ghanaian tactician for the vacant coaching job.
CK Akonnor, a former Black Stars coach, is leading the race to become the new Hearts of Oak gaffer as talks are in the advanced stage.
Akonnor served as Hearts of Oak head coach in 2012, succeeding Nebojša Vučićević, but was sacked after a poor start to the season with the club picking four points out of a possible 15.
Hearts of Oak currently has Abdul Bashiru as the interim head coach after the sacking of Martin Koopman.
The former league champions currently sit at the 11th position on the Ghana Premier League log with just 12 points after ten matches.
