Hearts of Oak has released Seven players from their books ahead of the second round of the 2023-24 Ghana Premier League season.
Managerless Phobia cited poor performance from the players and has then decided to part ways with them.
Goalkeeper Richmond Ayi has been released and it’s not very surprising because Ayi has lately been one of Hearts of Oak’s biggest problems on the pitch. He was shambolic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi against Asante Kotoko and was dreadful at Abrankese against Nations FC in the 1-1 draw.
Former Asante Kotoko and Meadeama SC shot-stopper Eric Ofori Antwi has also been released as he has not gotten much opportunity to play for the Phobians. The keeper last played for Hearts in their 4-1 defeat against Tamale City in Round 28 of the Ghana Premier League in the 2022-23 season.
Albert Eonde, a Cameroonian forward who joined the mighty Hearts of Oak from Dynamos in 2023 has played 25 league games for Hearts of Oak but hasn’t scored a single goal.
Former Ashanti Gold midfielder
Eric Esso has also been transfer-listed as he hasn’t convinced Heart of Oak coaches that he is up to the task although he has enjoyed some games.
Michelle Sarpong has been told to look for a new club as his service is no more needed. The 25-year-old has enjoyed loan spells with Elmina Sharks and Dreams before returning to Hearts of Oak for the current season but has struggled to nail down a position in the team.
Salim Adams has returned from Cincinnati from his loan as he makes an appearance for the senior team. He played 9 times for Cincinnati ll. He has been transfer-listed by Hearts of Oak.
Kwadwo Obeng Junior, 24, once the most prolific striker for Hearts of Oak, has struggled this season as he has not made an appearance for quite a long time.
Hearts of Oak have released these players at a time when they don’t have a manager. This is a huge decision but very necessary.
It remains unknown whether the Phobians will appoint a new manager before the Second Round of the season due to resume in late February.
However, Hearts of Oak has acquired the signature of five players to help bolster their squad for the second Round.
Kwadwo Osei Bonsu, Kassim Cisse, Kwesi Nketia, Sharif Shuib and Suraj Rayies are the 5 players signed by Phobia.
