There are speculations that Hearts of Oak might terminate their association with forwards Isaac Mensah and Kwadwo Obeng Jr at the conclusion of the season, as reported by Ghanasoccernet.com.
The performances of both players have reportedly left the “Phobians” unimpressed, leading the club to consider offloading them as part of a squad shake-up after the ongoing campaign.
Kwadwo Obeng joined Hearts of Oak in 2018 from Nea Salamina FC, while Isaac Mensah arrived two years later following a successful stint with lower-division side Nkoranza Warriors.
However, their contributions in the league this season have been limited, with the duo combining for just five goals, two from Obeng and an assist from Mensah.
Despite playing pivotal roles in Hearts of Oak’s domestic treble success during the 2020/21 season, their recent performances have been lackluster.
As the 21-time Ghanaian champions aim to rebuild for the 2023/24 campaign, they are reportedly planning a complete overhaul starting with these two players and potentially making further changes.
Hearts of Oak currently find themselves in an unfavorable position on the league table, sitting 11th with 45 points. To ensure their survival, they must avoid defeat in their upcoming match against Berekum Chelsea at Golden City Park on Sunday.
