Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) for Asante Kotoko, expresses unwavering confidence in anticipation of the much-anticipated clash against Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League.
The intense showdown between these iconic clubs is scheduled for the week 14 fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, with Hearts of Oak acting as the host in Kumasi due to the closure of the Accra Sports Stadium.
Reflecting on Kotoko’s recent performances, Awua emphasizes their winning momentum and declares their readiness to face Hearts of Oak on their home ground.
“Well, as you can see, for the last three League games and even the FA Cup, you could see the improvement and we are going to nail the record on Sunday. We are going to show the other people that we are in the winning spree, it’s going on and it’s not going to stop,” he said in an interview with Akoma FM in Kumasi.
“We’ve always been beaten them (Hearts of Oak) and they are coming to our land, so forget the mentality that Kumasi being their home, it’s our land, it’s our soil and they are coming here to face us so we take it as our home match, not even for them”
In a bold declaration, Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua encourages Kotoko fans to show up in large numbers, envisioning a victorious outcome and dismissing the notion that Kumasi is Hearts of Oak’s home turf.
He asserts, “Hearts should come and take all the money away, but we will score them for the three points.”
Asante Kotoko currently occupies the 7th position in the Ghana Premier League table with 19 points, while Hearts of Oak sits at the 8th spot with 16 points after 13 games.
