Former Fiorentina teammate Kevin-Prince Boateng has praised Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
Manchester United aimed to bolster their midfield options during the summer transfer window, which led to the departure of Fred and the arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea.
Manager Erik ten Hag, who previously worked with Amrabat at Utrecht in the Netherlands, desired an additional combative and mobile midfielder to complement Casemiro or serve as his backup.
United eventually secured a loan-to-buy deal for Amrabat on deadline day, a Moroccan World Cup star. While Amrabat has already made two appearances for United, he has not yet played in his natural midfield role due to the team’s left-back situation. United fans are eager to see him in his more conventional position, especially after hearing Kevin-Prince Boateng’s compliments.
Boateng, who appeared on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE show, discussed Amrabat, with whom he crossed paths at Fiorentina in 2020. He described Amrabat as “really good” and noted that he gives his all every day. Boateng emphasized that Amrabat might not be the vocal type who gets angry but instead demonstrates his leadership with constant running. Despite his quiet demeanor, Amrabat’s attitude and dedication can inspire his teammates on the pitch.
Boateng stated, “I played with him at Fiorentina – he’s really good,” said Boateng. “He’s a guy that’s going to give everything every day. He’s not that type of guy who is going to talk and maybe get angry, he’s more of a speaker on the pitch, he’s going to show you, he’s going to run back and forth, box-to-box.”
“He’s not a speaker, he’s a Muslim, he’s very with himself, but on the pitch, he will give you everything and this is why people will get lifted up,” he added.
