Chief Executive Officer of Nations FC, Kennedy Boakye Ansah, has called on the Black Stars technical team to consider bringing defender Razak Simpson back into the national team setup as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Simpson last wore the Ghana jersey in May 2025 during the Unity Cup third-place playoff, where he marked the occasion by scoring his maiden international goal in a match against Trinidad and Tobago. Since then, he has continued to deliver consistent performances at club level.
In an interview with Citi Sports, Ansah praised the defender’s work ethic and attitude, describing him as a committed and disciplined player who always gives his best when given the opportunity.
“Razak Simpson is a top player. He has shown tremendous commitment, discipline, and the zeal to give his all for the nation’s cause and the national team,” he stated.
Ansah also disclosed that members of the newly constituted Black Stars technical team were present during Nations FC’s recent game against All Blacks, a move he believes was partly to monitor Simpson’s progress.
“Fortunately for us, last weekend, one of the newly appointed Black Stars coaches together with the team manager came to watch our game against All Blacks. I’m pretty sure Razak was one of the reasons they came — not only to watch him but also to assess some of the other talents we have,” he added.
The Nations FC boss expressed confidence in Simpson’s ability to perform at the highest level, insisting the defender has what it takes to contribute meaningfully to the national team if handed another opportunity.
“We know his quality, we know what he can deliver for the national team, and we know what he’s made of. He’s a very solid player who can compete at the highest level globally,” Ansah said.
Simpson remains a key figure for Nations FC as they continue their push in both the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup, where the club is targeting a strong run in the quarterfinal stage.
