Manchester United legend Roy Keane has hailed 19-year-old Kobbie Mainoo as a “natural” after the midfielder’s impressive performance for England in the Euro 2024 Round of 16 match against Slovakia.
Mainoo, of Ghanaian descent, made his debut start for England and showcased his impressive passing skills, with only three passes going astray during his 84 minutes on the pitch.
Keane, who played in the same position during his playing career, was particularly impressed by Mainoo’s understanding of the game and mastery of his skills.
“You see the things he is doing; I played in that position, but he’s doing things that probably took me 10 years to learn,” Keane said on ITV.
Mainoo has played in three matches for England at the Euros so far, including the win against Serbia and the match against Slovenia.
Despite being benched for the game against Denmark, Mainoo returned to the pitch for the match against Slovenia and has clearly made an impact on the team.
