The Black Queens, under the guidance of Nora Hauptle, continued their impressive run with a resounding 5-0 victory over Rwanda at the Accra Sports Stadium in the second leg of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana’s victory was propelled by a stunning hat-trick from Alice Kusi, along with goals from Evelyn Badu and Stella Nyamekye, resulting in a dominant 12-0 aggregate scoreline. This commanding performance followed their 7-0 triumph in the first leg, held at the Kigali Pele Stadium in Rwanda the previous week.
As a result of this victory, Ghana is set to face Namibia in the next round of the competition. Namibia secured their spot with a 5-2 win over Gambia in the first round of qualifiers.
The winner of the tie between Ghana and Namibia will earn a place in the 2024 WAFCON tournament, which will take place in Morocco.
Notably, this result extends the Black Queens’ unbeaten streak to eight games under Coach Hauptle, during which they have amassed an impressive tally of 26 goals while keeping clean sheets in all matches.
