Hohoe United boosted their survival chances in the Ghana Premier League after recording a hard-fought 1-0 win over FC Samartex 1996 at the Hohoe Sports Stadium.

The Week 24 encounter was closely contested, with both teams showing determination from the opening whistle. Hohoe United entered the match with confidence after earning a valuable away point against Aduana FC in their previous game. Playing at home, they were eager to secure all three points to help their fight against relegation.

The first half of the match was balanced as both sides tried to create scoring chances but found it difficult to break through the opposition defence. Samartex controlled portions of possession and looked threatening at times, but Hohoe’s backline remained disciplined, organised, and difficult to penetrate.

The decisive moment came just three minutes after the restart. Midfielder Kekeli Attor seized an attacking opportunity in the 48th minute after a well-constructed move by his team. Attor kept calm inside the box and fired a powerful shot past the goalkeeper, sending home supporters into celebration. The goal turned out to be the only one of the match.

After going behind, Samartex pushed forward in search of an equaliser. The visitors committed more players into attack and tried to use their passing play to break Hohoe’s defence. However, Hohoe United remained solid at the back and also looked dangerous on counterattacks whenever they regained possession.

The result was disappointing for Samartex, who are fighting for a strong finish in the league as they chase a top-four position. Their recent away form once again proved difficult, as they failed to find a way past the determined Hohoe defence.

For Hohoe United, the victory is a big step in their bid to move away from the relegation zone. The three points will give the team more confidence as the season continues, while the win also excited the home fans who watched their side fight hard for the result.
