Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey delivered a solid performance for Arsenal on Tuesday night, playing a key role in their dominant 3-0 win over Real Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Partey, known for his composure and control in midfield, started the match at the Emirates Stadium and played the full 90 minutes. His efforts were instrumental in Arsenal’s midfield dominance, earning him a match rating of 7.0 as the Gunners took a major step toward the semi-finals.
The opening half saw both sides create opportunities, but neither was able to break the deadlock before the break. The turning point came in the 58th minute when Declan Rice unleashed a brilliant free-kick to give Arsenal the lead.
Rice struck again in the 70th minute, this time producing another stunning goal from a direct free-kick, leaving Real Madrid’s defense helpless and doubling the Gunners’ advantage.
Just five minutes later, Arsenal sealed the win with a third goal. Mikel Merino found the back of the net after being set up by a clever pass from young midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly.
The convincing result puts Arsenal in a commanding position ahead of the second leg, with Thomas Partey and his teammates brimming with confidence as they look to finish the job and book a spot in the semi-finals.
