Head coach of Ghana’s Black Queens, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, has reflected on his team’s narrow 1-0 loss to the Teranga Lionesses of Senegal in a friendly match played on Tuesday.
Bjorkegren noted that the game could have easily ended in a goalless draw, as both teams created very few clear-cut opportunities throughout the match.
“In the end, it was a close game, not so many chances for either team. Normally it’s a 0-0 game, but they scored and there is nothing I can do about it, so it’s just congratulations to Senegal,” the coach said in his post-match remarks.
He also explained that the team had undergone major changes ahead of the match, which might have affected their performance on the pitch.
“We changed half of the team between those two games. Of course, many players hadn’t played together before, so of course when you put almost a new starting eleven together, that can be a bit difficult because football is about natural relations,” he said.
Despite the setback, Bjorkegren acknowledged areas that need improvement, particularly in the attacking department. He expressed his determination to sharpen the team’s offensive play as they continue their preparations for future competitions.
