Hull City transfer didn’t surprise me – Benjamin Tetteh

Black Stars forward Benjamin Tetteh says his move to Hull City last summer was not something that came as a surprise for him.

The 25-year-old joined the English Championship side last year after terminating his contract with Yeni Malatyaspor at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Tetteh scored 14 goals and assisted 10 in 60 games with the Turkish side between 2020 and 2022 before joining the English side.

But unlike others who were surprised with the transfer, the former Sparta Prague man says the move didn’t take him by surprise.

“I wasn’t [surprised] because when I was in Sparta [Prague], I had quite a number of Premier League clubs that wanted me but there were management issues so it couldn’t happen,” he said in an interview with Star Connect.

The striker also revealed coming to England was to achieve something he failed to do during his time in Turkey.

“If I had worked harder, I could have done way better. I didn’t take it too easy [in Turkey] but I just didn’t do enough for myself,” he added.

“That was the inspiration for coming to England because there you go hard or you go home. Because after I terminated my contract with Malatyaspor I could have gone to Arabia or anywhere I wanted but when the offer came from England I was like ‘okay’.”

Tetteh will be hoping to get better numbers in the second half of the season after healing from a hamstring injury that required surgery.
