Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Elton-Ofoi Acolatse has completed a high-profile move in Hungarian football after joining league champions Ferencváros from fellow top-flight side Diósgyőri VTK.

The 30-year-old winger departs Diósgyőr after two and a half outstanding seasons, during which he established himself as one of the club’s most influential and consistent performers.

Since arriving in 2023, Acolatse registered 16 goals and 17 assists in 70 league appearances, underlining his importance to the team. His form during the current campaign has been particularly impressive, with eight goals and eight assists in just 18 matches, performances that caught the attention of Hungary’s most successful club.

A product of the renowned Ajax Academy, Acolatse spent several years honing his skills in Amsterdam before making his senior breakthrough with the club’s reserve side.

His career has taken him across Europe, featuring spells in Belgium with Westerlo, Club Brugge and Sint-Truiden, Israel with Hapoel Be’er Sheva, and Turkey with Bursaspor, gaining valuable experience across multiple leagues.

At international youth level, Acolatse represented the Netherlands, memorably scoring a dramatic late equaliser in the 2012 UEFA European Under-17 Championship final against Germany before converting his spot-kick in the penalty shootout victory.

For Ferencváros, the acquisition of Acolatse is seen as a crucial addition as they aim to defend their domestic title and make a strong push in European inter-club competitions during the second half of the season.
