“I believe I can do even more than I did last season” – West Ham star Mohammed Kudus

Ghana international Mohammed Kudus has opened up about his decision to join Premier League outfit West Ham United last summer, revealing that he is a player who thrives on challenges.

The 24-year-old midfielder signed a five-year contract with the Hammers in August 2023 after establishing himself as a top prospect at Ajax, where he spent three seasons.

Kudus became an instant hit for West Ham in the recently concluded season, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in the Premier League, as well as five goals in the Europa League.

In an exclusive interview with the Athletic, Kudus explained that he is drawn to new challenges and opportunities, citing his experiences playing in Denmark and the Netherlands before making the move to England.

“From Denmark (playing at Nordsjaelland, 2018-20), Holland (with Ajax, 2020-23) to England, I’m definitely a player that likes challenges. When I feel like I’m at a point where I’ve really killed it at a specific club and then there’s an opportunity, I would definitely challenge myself. I don’t want to get complacent and be used to the same thing over and over again.”

“But that was my first season at West Ham, and I believe I can do even more than last season.”

Kudus believes that he can build on his impressive debut season at West Ham and is looking forward to preseason training with his teammates.

He is currently in Ghana for a short vacation before rejoining the club ahead of the new season.
