Former Asante Kotoko striker Alex Asamoah, popularly known as ‘Makwekwe’, says he is still physically fit and ready to return to competitive football despite turning 40.
The experienced forward, who has also played for AshantiGold SC, Berekum Arsenal and ES Sétif, is currently a free agent but insists he still has plenty to offer and could continue playing for several more years.
Asamoah made a name for himself at Kotoko, winning the Ghana Premier League Golden Boot in the 2008/09 season after scoring 16 goals.
Despite his age and current free-agent status, the veteran striker says he remains committed to maintaining his fitness and believes he can play for at least another five years.
“I came to the limelight very early, so people may doubt my capabilities at the moment. I’m physically fit and see myself playing for another five years before calling it quits,” Asamoah told Angel FM.
The former Kotoko forward revealed that he continues to train regularly and is prepared to join any club that presents him with an opportunity.
“I’m still training and ready to play for any club that approaches me. The Ghana transfer window will close in a few weeks, but I’m open to joining any club because I’m a free agent,” he added.
