Anthony Annan has stated that he cannot hold anything against Luis Suarez as he was only doing what was necessary for his country in 2010.

Suarez handballed a header late in the quarter-final game against Ghana. Uruguay eventually won the game on penalties.

Many Ghanaians do not like Luis Suarez but Annan understood why he made that decision.

“As a footballer, I think Suarez did what he did in 2010 to save his country and I can’t hold anything against him but we couldn’t progress and he was celebrating because he did what he was supposed to do. I didn’t like seeing him celebrating but he saved his country. We just have to forge ahead,” he told TV3.

Luis Suarez was added to the provisional squad of Uruguay for the 2022 World Cup.
