Accra Hearts of Oak defender, Fatawu Mohammed, says sitting on the bench for the majority part of the just-ended season as captain of the side was no problem for him.
The skipper started just 18 league games for the Phobians last season while also featuring in the MTN FA Cup twice as Hearts went on to defend their title.
Fatawu, who hardly played following the signing of Samuel Inkoom, said he had no issues making way for the 32-year-old.
“Mostly, coaches put players on the bench to bring them in to change the game, so when you are sitting on the bench doesn’t mean you are not good, other players sit on the bench when I play, so I shouldn’t be worried when I sit on the bench too,” he told Joy Sports.
“All I need to do is work extra hard to start in games. So I had no problems sitting on the bench at all. Fatawu can’t play always, so I’m good.”
Fatawu will lead the team once again after they secured a CAF Confederations Cup ticket following the win over Bechem United in the MTN FA Cup final.
