Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Sadiq expressed his delight after playing a pivotal role in AZ Alkmaar’s thrilling comeback win against RKC Waalwijk in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Sadiq, a former Ghana U17 star, made an instant impact after coming off the bench in the 62nd minute. His performance earned him the Man of the Match award as AZ overturned a two-goal deficit to secure a 3-2 victory.
“I Feel so happy to help the team to win and also get my chance to shine,” he told reporters after the game.
“I was out on the bench and I told myself when if I go in I have to show what I can do and also help the team to win. I saw spaces behind them and in the middle, so I was like if I go in I will take those spaces and score or give an assist,” he added.
Sadiq delivered an assist for Yukinari Sugawara’s goal in the 66th minute before scoring the equalizer nine minutes later, leveling the scores after AZ trailed 2-0 at halftime. Vangelis Pavlidis netted the winner two minutes after Sadiq’s goal, securing all three points for AZ at home.
The Ghana youth international joined AZ Alkmaar during the winter transfer window from BK Hacken and has quickly made an impact, making 12 appearances for the club. Sadiq has contributed with a goal and two assists since joining AZ, showcasing his talent and versatility on the field.
