Defender Joseph Ablorh has opened up on his decision to join Asante Kotoko, revealing that his friend and former captain Amos Frimpong played a crucial role in convincing him to join the Ghanaian giants.

The former Hafia FC centre-back signed a two-year deal with the Porcupine Warriors ahead of the 2024/25 football season, turning down other offers to join the club.

Ablorh, who was previously recognized for his strong tackling and aerial prowess in the 2020/21 season, credited Frimpong for swaying his decision to join Kotoko.

“I had many offers but I was convinced by a friend (Amos Frimpong) to join Asante Kotoko,” Ablorh said. “I decided to join Kotoko because of him. I wanted to play for Kotoko at the beginning of my career but I didn’t get the chance so I travelled. I think this is the right time for me help Kotoko.”

Ablorh’s arrival is part of Asante Kotoko’s efforts to rebuild their squad after losing over 20 players at the end of last season.

The club is looking to fortify their team ahead of upcoming campaigns, and Ablorh’s addition is expected to bolster their defensive department.
