Karim Zito, head coach of Asante Kotoko, has appealed to the club’s supporters to remain patient, insisting the team is still firmly in the race for the Ghana Premier League title.
The Kotoko coach stated that throughout his coaching career, he has never been sacked from a head coach role, explaining that when he takes up a job, he works until his task is done before leaving. He noted that Asante Kotoko is a special club to him and that he understands the passion and emotions of its supporters.
Mr. Zito emphasized that Kotoko are currently placed fifth on the league table and still have 14 matches to play, making the title race far from over. He expressed confidence that the team can still achieve success if given the needed support and patience.
He also admitted that the pressure from fan reactions sometimes affects his family, especially his children. However, he said he continues to reassure them that such challenges are part of football, adding that fans have the right to express their feelings, including protesting.
The Kotoko coach concluded by urging supporters to stay calm and trust the process, assuring them that with patience and unity, victories will come.
“I have never been sacked as a head coach. If a club hires me, I will work, and at the end of the day, I’ll leave my role, but this is my club, and I know how the fans behave.”I only plead with the fans to be patient, and we will surely win.
“Sometimes, my kids are disturbed, but I keep telling them this is the nature of our work, and the fans have their right to protest, but they should be ppatient,.
