Enoch Morrison, the midfielder for Asante Kotoko, openly admitted that he hasn’t come close to replicating the level of performance he showcased at his previous club. He delved deep into the reasons behind this situation.
At 23 years old, Morrison made the move to the Porcupine Warriors before the beginning of the previous season, transferring from King Faisal FC. His exceptional and consistent displays in the green and white shirt earned him this opportunity.
While the versatile midfielder commenced his journey with Kotoko on a positive note, his performance subsequently witnessed a significant decline. This dip in form could have played a role in Kotoko’s inability to defend their league title.
During an interview, Morrison acknowledged his inability to match his previous performances. He attributed this discrepancy to the fact that he hasn’t been positioned in his preferred number 10 role, which he believes hindered him from replicating his remarkable performances with King Faisal while wearing the red shirt of Kotoko.
He shared, “I have not even done 30% of what I did at King Faisal. The way I played at King Faisal is different from how I am playing now. I wouldn’t blame myself so much because I used to play the number 10 role at King Faisal but at Kotoko, I play in different roles. I have played 31 matches and never played as number 10.”
Morrison emphasized that this observation wasn’t meant to assign blame; rather, it’s a natural aspect of the game. He expressed his adaptability to different positions, even mentioning a stint at left back, showcasing his willingness to contribute to the team’s needs.
“This is not to say it is somebody’s fault. It is part of the game. I have to adopt to the system. I even played at left back at a point. I have to play because it is something I can do.”
In the previous season, Enoch Morrison managed to score three goals and provide two assists, a notable difference from his time at King Faisal, where he netted seven goals and provided an assist in his final season with the ‘Insha Allah’ outfit.
Currently, he is undergoing preseason preparations with his Kotoko teammates in Beposo, gearing up for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
