UK-based Ghanaian youngster Sam Amo-Ameyaw says he will look to continue from where he left off last season after signing a first professional contract with Southampton.
The 17-year-old has committed to his first professional terms only a year after joining the Saints from Tottenham Hotspur.
Amo-Ameyaw signs a three-year deal which will keep him at the club until June 2026.
Amo-Ameyaw made his senior debut on the final day of the Premier League season with an exhilarating late cameo against Liverpool, after scoring a brace in the final PL2 game of the season that ultimately secured their title win.
Speaking after signing the deal, Amo-Ameyaw said: “Coming into Southampton the first thing I wanted to do was try and work my way up as quickly as possible.”
“Winning the league with B-team [Under-21s], it was a massive achievement for all of and then making my Premier League debut at 16, again a good achievement and I just want to push on now.
“The manager [Russell Martin] wants me to push on, stay in-and-around the first team if I can, get some game time. But keep pushing on and seeing what I can do.”
The player will look to play more this season with Southampton now playing in the English Championship.
