Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has paid a heartfelt tribute to AFC Bournemouth, describing the Cherries as the club that transformed his career and paved the way for his blockbuster move to Manchester City.
The Black Stars forward completed a £65 million transfer to the Premier League champions during the January transfer window after establishing himself as one of the league’s most dangerous attackers at Bournemouth.
Despite taking the next step in his career, Semenyo says he will always remain grateful to the South Coast club for the faith they showed in him and the environment they created for him to flourish.
“I owe them everything, to be honest. They helped my Premier League career flourish and obviously the management, the staff behind the scenes, they were all amazing. They made everything so smooth,” Semenyo said.
The 26-year-old joined Bournemouth from Bristol City and developed into one of the Premier League’s standout forwards through his explosive pace, physicality and versatility across the front line.
During the 2025/26 season, Semenyo enjoyed the best campaign of his career, scoring 21 goals for club and country, performances that attracted interest from several top Premier League clubs before Manchester City secured his signature.
Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, the Ghanaian has adapted quickly, helping City win both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, while scoring in the FA Cup final against Chelsea. He has also made an encouraging start under new manager Enzo Maresca, registering an assist during City’s pre-season tour of Asia.
