“I sometimes cry secretly because of Asante Kotoko’s current poor performances”- Joe Okyere

Asante Kotoko’s current form and overall performance in the ongoing season can never be described with words as it is simply unacceptable.

After Week 30, Asante Kotoko has won just 40 points in the available 90 and it is incredibly unbelievable per their standard and level.

On Academic and Mature Sports on Ezra FM AND TV on Tuesday, former Porcupine Warriors attacking midfielder Joe Okyere beweeped the current state of the club.

In an interview with Bright Awuah (Bryto), Joe Okyere said, “I have tried several times to advise the current players of Asante Kotoko but all to no avail.

“Due to the player’s unwillingness to take my advice, I have decided not to associate myself with anything about the players again.

He continued, “During our playing days, the former players always advised us and it helped us very well.

“As a former player and a fan of the club, I sometimes cry secretly because of the club’s current poor performances”, added the former star.

“The current situation of the club is very disheartening and wished things could turn around as soon as possible.

“As a player, if you get the opportunity to play for a club like Kotoko it makes you popular but if you don’t play well you can’t get the honour that comes with playing for Kotoko.

On the causes of Kotoko’s player’s poor performances, the former midfielder commented.

“The players’ private lives also affect their performances on the field. The players have to work hard individually.

“New players used to work extra hard when they signed for Kotoko to make the starting lineup, added Okyere.

The former Zamalek midfielder commented on Kotoko players’ not having enough rest and always spending their time at nightclubs as some of the reasons affecting the club’s performances.

Asante Kotoko is sitting 10th on the league log with just 4 games to end the season.
