Asante Kotoko v Accra Hearts of Oak: “The Euphoria has reduced drastically”- Joe Okyere

Week 31 of the Ghana Premier League will be played over the weekend and the biggest fixture undoubtedly is Asante Kotoko against Accra Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Former deadly attacking midfielder and goalscorer of Asante Kotoko, Joe Okyere in an interview with Ezra TV/Radio disclosed that everything about the super clash has reduced drastically.

“The euphoria around Kotoko and Hearts matches when they play has reduced drastically.

“No flags, poor attendance in the stadium, no hype and the poor performances from both clubs have also contributed,” added Joe Okyere.

Many Ghanaians are not even aware that there will be a league match between Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday. There’s zero interest in the Super Clash and it calls for a very huge concern.

When asked to give his predictions, Joe Okyere said, “Kotoko and Hearts matches are unpredictable. Any of them can win as Hearts are relegation-threatened and Kotoko will want to prove something as they play at home.

On Steven Mukwala’s performance, he said, “It’s not bad but he has to do more and the team has to help him with more supplies as well”.

On rumours of players using juju, the former midfielder opined that whatever the players feel is right, they must do. “Anyone can do what he thinks it’s best for him. Everyone has what he believes in and I can’t say no player should not involve himself in this or that, if only it will help him to get results but I believe in hard work and training.

Asante Kotoko will welcome Accra Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash on Sunday at 3 pm at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in Week 31 of the Ghana Premier League.
