Ex Hearts of Oak captain Fatawu Mohammed has revealed that his salary at Hearts of Oak was so small that it could not even buy him a bicycle.
He has been released by the club after his contract expired.
He revealed this in an interview on Sports Obama TV.
“I didn’t get even a bicycle from Hearts of Oak. I bought my car with Black Stars qualification bonus. The only thing I earned from Hearts was the call up I had to the Black Stars but I couldn’t buy anything with my salary at Hearts of Oak,” he said. “It was a hand to mouth salary.”
He played as Ghana lost 1-0 to South Africa in World Cup qualification but received the bonus after the Black Stars ultimately qualified for the World Cup.
