Yaw Nuamah, the proud father of Ernest Nuamah Appiah, a rising star in the Black Stars and Black Meteors, holds a heartfelt aspiration to witness his son emulate the legendary Abedi Ayew Pele on the football field.

Ernest Nuamah created a memorable moment in international football by securing a vital victory for the Black Stars against the Central African Republic (CAR) on Thursday.

The electrifying match unfolded at the iconic Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, where Nuamah notched his maiden international goal. This significant contribution played a pivotal role in Ghana’s qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, set to be held in Ivory Coast next year.

Nuamah, who recently made a high-profile move to French giants Lyon, displayed poise and precision as he calmly slotted the ball into the net from close range.

This defining moment was made possible through an assist from the hardworking Antoine Semenyo, who made a substantial impact on Ghana’s performance as a second-half substitute.

Initially, CAR posed a serious challenge, threatening to break Ghana’s longstanding unbeaten streak at the Baba Yara Stadium, dating back over two decades. They took the lead with a goal from forward Louis Mafouta. However, the skillful Mohammed Kudus of West Ham came to Ghana’s rescue with a stunning free-kick goal, ensuring both teams entered halftime on level terms.

In the second half, it was Nuamah who emerged as the game-changer, delivering a well-timed goal that secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory for Ghana. This triumph not only solidified Ghana’s undefeated record at the Baba Yara Stadium, extending back to the year 2000 but also propelled Nuamah into the limelight.

While his father, Yaw Nuamah, proudly watched from the stands, he couldn’t contain his excitement. Yaw Nuamah expressed his heartfelt desire for his son to follow in the footsteps of the legendary Abedi Pele, who became an iconic figure for the Black Stars in the 1980s.

Watch the interview with Ernest Nuamah’s father below:

As young Ernest Nuamah continues to make waves in the football world, his father’s dreams of witnessing his son reach the heights of a true football legend like Abedi Pele are well on their way to becoming a reality.
