President John Dramani Mahama created a lighthearted moment with the Black Stars during his visit to their training session on Wednesday, ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad.
Engaging with the team, Mahama humorously mentioned that he had been advised to eat before watching the game, drawing laughter from the players and staff present.
Despite the jokes, the President reassured the team of the nation’s unwavering support and urged them to fight for victory.
“I will take time off and watch the game myself even though my heart is not very good at watching soccer. They say I should eat before I go and watch. My hope is that you will justify my sitting and watching you guys. The whole of Ghana is going to be behind you, and I’m sure that you can make it,” Mahama stated.
The highly anticipated World Cup qualifier between Ghana and Chad is set to kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 21, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
