Black Stars midfielder Elisha Owusu says despite the pressure in his debut game for the national team, he was well-prepared for such a game.
The Gent star made his maiden appearance for Ghana during the second leg of the World Cup playoff game against Nigeria at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in March.
The 25-year-old came on as a second-half substitute, replacing Baba Iddrisu in the middle of the part as Ghana settled for a draw against the Super Eagles.
“As a player, that is the type of game you want to play,” he said on Star Connect when quizzed about how he felt before his introduction.
“I think every player wants to feel this kind of pressure, this kind of difficulty game, a game that can decide a lot of things for your career.
“I was excited and motivated to be there. If you were part of the squad, you’re a part of the squad that qualified [Ghana] to the World Cup which is amazing. It’s history.”
The defensive midfielder was one of six players who were unused during Ghana’s World Cup campaign.
