Former Black Stars head coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor, says player selection influence in the team left him very frustrated at some point during his time in the dugout.
According to him, it was never an easy thing trying to prevent influence from Ghana Football Association leadership when it came to calling players for the Black Stars.
This, he revealed was a rationale behind considering not to invite midfielder Emmanuel Lomotey to the Black Stars camp at a point.
“It was always a challenge,” he told JoySports when quizzed on whether he had a final say on player selection.
“There were times I was so frustrated and I didn’t want to call certain players.
“It got to a point I wasn’t going to call Emmanuel Lomotey again.”
Akonnor was in charge of just 10 games between January 2020 and September 2021 during his tenure as the head coach of the Black Stars.
