Yahaya Dawuni, the recent addition to Asante Kotoko, has expressed his commitment to making a meaningful gesture with his first club salary by donating it to an orphanage.
Having finalized his transfer from Division One side Susubiribi to the Porcupine Warriors earlier this week, the versatile defender has signed a three-year contract that will see him remain with the team until 2026.
Dawuni, who is highly esteemed for his defensive skills, shared his heartfelt intention with the club’s media. He expressed his desire to bring smiles to the faces of children in need by donating his inaugural salary from Kotoko to an orphanage.
“What I would like to do with my first salary at Kotoko is to donate to the orphanage. I have always had that in mind, even when I hadn’t joined Kotoko I had in mind that for any team that I sign for, I will donate my first salary to an orphanage. My parents are still alive but I’m the type who likes to help, has a passion for people who lack” he said.
Dawuni has already joined his teammates at the Beposo training grounds as they embark on their pre-season preparations for the upcoming season.
With aspirations of improving upon their performance from last season, where they secured a fourth-place finish in the Ghana Premier League, the team is determined to strive for a more successful outcome in the upcoming campaign.
