Carlos Queiroz unveiled as new Black Stars head coach

Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has made a bold declaration about his commitment to Ghana, insisting he is fully prepared to remain in charge beyond his initial short-term arrangement if the project demands it.

Speaking on his readiness to stay beyond his four-month contract, Queiroz delivered a striking statement that underlined both his confidence and emotional connection to the task ahead.

“If I have to stay here for the rest of my life, I will not leave,” he said, signalling a strong willingness to commit long-term if his work with the national team develops positively.

The Portuguese tactician’s comments come as he begins his tenure with the Black Stars, tasked with preparing the team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and restoring consistency to Ghana’s performances on the global stage.

Queiroz, known for his disciplined and structured coaching philosophy, has already stressed the importance of unity, organisation, and sacrifice as the foundation of his project. His latest remarks, however, go beyond tactics — pointing instead to a deeper sense of purpose and attachment to the role.

While his initial agreement is short-term, his message suggests that success on the pitch could naturally extend his stay, depending on progress, results, and alignment with the team’s long-term vision.

For Ghana, the statement will be seen as a positive sign of commitment from a coach with vast international experience, as preparations intensify for a demanding World Cup campaign.

With expectations rising, Queiroz appears focused on building not just a competitive team, but a lasting project that could define the next chapter of Black Stars football.
