St. Pauli coach Timo Schultz has sent a goodwill message to attacker Daniel Kofi Kyereh ahead of the Black Stars Africa Cup of Nations final group game against Comoros later today.
The German-based forward made his AFCON debut in the Black Stars 1-1 stalemate with Gabon and looks set to start again against Comoros on Tuesday as Ghana fight seriously for a round of a 16 qualification.
Following a loss to Morocco and a point from a draw with Gabon, Ghana’s chances of progressing to the next round of the current tournament are slim.
The Black Stars lost their opening fixture at the tournament to Morocco before draw one all against Gabon in their second match.
The West African giants will need to beat Comoros in the final group game on Tuesday, January 18 to keep them in the competition.
Speaking ahead of Ghana’s do-or-die clash, Coach Timo Schultz said: “I am in contact with Kofi. We’ve also been texting back and forth a bit more frequently over the past few days.”
“I wish Kofi nothing but the best and would be happy for him personally if he gets as far as possible with Ghana, maybe even win the Africa Cup.” Schultz said as quoted by the Bild Newspaper.
Ghana now has to beat Comoros massively in their last Group C game before they can stand a chance to progress to the next stage of the tournament.
The four-time African Champions, have always qualified from the group stage of the Afcon since 2008.
