Ibrahim Mbaye has etched his name into the history books after becoming the youngest goalscorer in Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations history.
At just 17 years and 344 days, the teenage forward found the net to set a new national record for Senegal at the continental tournament. His goal highlighted a breakthrough moment in his young career and underlined Senegal’s bright future.
Mbaye’s achievement also places him among a rare group in AFCON history. He is the youngest player to score in the competition since Gabon’s Shiva N’Zigou, who netted against South Africa in January 2000 at the age of 16 years and 91 days.
The record-breaking goal adds to Senegal’s strong run at AFCON 2025 and confirms Ibrahim Mbaye as one of the tournament’s exciting young talents to watch.
