Ghanaian youngster Ibrahim Osman made an instant impact for AJ Auxerre on Sunday as they opened their 2025/26 French Ligue 1 season with a 1–0 win over Lorient.
The 20-year-old winger, who joined Auxerre on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer, started the game at Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps and played a key role in the decisive moment.
After a goalless first half, Osman showed his quality in the second period, providing the assist for Lassine Sinayoko to score the only goal of the match in the 43rd minute.
Auxerre later missed the chance to double their lead when Josue Casimir wasted a penalty in the 70th minute. Lorient pushed hard in the closing stages but could not find an equaliser.
Osman played 82 minutes before being substituted to warm applause from the home fans. He is expected to be a vital part of Auxerre’s squad throughout the Ligue 1 campaign.
