Ghanaian forward Ibrahim Sadiq scored his first goal for AZ Alkmaar during their disappointing home defeat to Aston Villa in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday.
Sadiq found the net for AZ as they suffered a 4-1 loss to the Premier League side in their third group match at the AFAS Stadion in Alkmaar.
Leon Bailey, the Jamaican international forward, opened the scoring for Aston Villa just 13 minutes into the match.
Midfielder Youri Tielemens doubled the lead for the visitors ten minutes later, with an assist from captain John McGinn.
Striker Ollie Watkins extended Aston Villa’s lead immediately after halftime, and McGinn scored the fourth goal in the 56th minute.
Sadiq, who was making his first start since joining AZ, pulled one back in the 65th minute after receiving a cross from Bruno Martins Indi.
This disappointing defeat has left AZ at the bottom of the Group E standings with three points after three matches.
