Former Asante Kotoko National Circles Council (NCC) Chairman Kweku Amponsah, popularly known as Chairman K5, has appealed to supporters of the club to give new head coach Eric Tinkler their full support ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The South African coach was recently appointed to lead the Porcupine Warriors as the club begins preparations for the upcoming campaign, with the tactician already overseeing pre-season training sessions.
Chairman K5 believes Tinkler possesses the experience and knowledge required to succeed at Kotoko, particularly due to his familiarity with the demands of African football.
Speaking in an interview with FOX FM, the former supporters’ leader urged fans to remain patient and united behind the new coach, insisting that collective support will be crucial to the team’s success.
“Eric Tinkler is a black coach who knows the dynamics of African football, so let’s support him, because if he fails, we the supporters are to be blamed,” Chairman K5 said.
He stressed that while Tinkler’s technical qualities will play an important role, the backing of the supporters will also determine how smoothly the coach’s project develops.
Tinkler has been tasked with rebuilding Asante Kotoko into a competitive side capable of challenging for major honours after a difficult period for the club.
The Porcupine Warriors will open their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign away from home against newly promoted Debibi United, as they begin their pursuit of domestic success under the South African tactician.
