Hearts of Oak defender Kelvin Osei Asibey has declared his readiness to respond to a call-up to the Black Stars as Ghana prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The former Eleven Wonders centre-back has been in fine form this season, consistently impressing in the Ghana Premier League. His solid performance caught the eye of the national team technical staff, led by head coach Otto Addo, who attended the high-stakes Super Clash against Asante Kotoko at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Speaking to Kessben FM, Osei Asibey emphasized that domestic league players also deserve national recognition and promised to continue performing at a high level to earn a spot in the squad.
“For me, players plying their trade in the domestic league also deserve Black Stars call-up. As a citizen of this great country, I’m ever ready to honour a Black Stars invitation. In the meantime, I will continue to do my best for my club,” he said.
The Super Clash ended 1-0 in favour of Hearts of Oak, courtesy of an early strike from Baba Adamu, moving the Phobians into second place on the league table with 39 points from 22 matches.
Osei Asibey’s performance underlines his growing reputation as a dependable defender and a potential candidate for Ghana’s 2026 World Cup campaign.
