Bibiani GoldStars Chief Executive Officer Akwasi Adu has confirmed that the club is actively pursuing former Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah as they continue preparations for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The 24-year-old striker is currently a free agent following the termination of his contract with Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi, less than a year after signing a two-year deal with the club.
Amoah joined the Libyan outfit in October 2025 in a high-profile transfer but struggled to secure regular first-team opportunities. He later returned to Asante Kotoko on a short-term loan spell in January 2026 before becoming available on the transfer market.
Speaking on GoldStars’ recruitment plans, Akwasi Adu revealed that the club has already assembled most of its squad and is looking to add a few more quality players, with Amoah identified as the preferred replacement for departed top scorer Samuel Atta Kumi, who moved to Iraqi club Al-Kahrbaa Club.
“We have 27 players. At least 24 are confirmed. We are just looking around to add one or two players to some departments of the team. I’m looking for Albert Amoah to replace Atta Kumi,” Adu told Luv FM.
“Yes, I’m chasing Kotoko’s Albert Amoah. I’m chasing him until he comes.”
Amoah previously made his name in the Ghana Premier League with Asante Kotoko, where his pace, movement and finishing ability earned him recognition as one of the league’s promising attacking talents.
The forward’s potential arrival would give GoldStars another experienced option in attack as they prepare for another title challenge after narrowly missing out on the league crown last season.
Akwasi Adu also confirmed that the club has strengthened its defence with the signing of a young centre-back from Young Apostles, while an attacking midfielder remains another priority before the close of the transfer window.
“We are looking for one central defender, which we’ve got. We got this young player from Young Apostles, and the other role is an attacking midfielder.”
GoldStars will begin their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign away to Bechem United, with Greek coach Petros Koukouras leading the team into the new season.
