Antoine Semenyo has spoken glowingly about his early days at Manchester City, admitting he is relishing life at the Etihad after making a blistering start following his move from Bournemouth.
The Ghanaian forward has enjoyed a near-perfect beginning to his City career, finding the net in back-to-back appearances across competitions and quickly winning over supporters with his energy and directness.
Semenyo’s latest goal arrived on Tuesday, January 14, 2026, when he struck the decisive effort in City’s 2–0 EFL Cup semi-final first-leg victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park, handing Pep Guardiola’s side a crucial away advantage. Just days earlier, he had announced himself in emphatic fashion by registering a goal and an assist on his competitive debut during City’s FA Cup demolition of Exeter City.
That instant impact has placed Semenyo in elite company, making him the first Manchester City player to score in each of his first two appearances since Emmanuel Adebayor in August 2009.
Reflecting on his flying start, the 26-year-old credited confidence and enjoyment as the driving forces behind his performances.
“I’m just taking the confidence I had from Bournemouth and, like I said, playing with a smile on my face,” Semenyo said. “I’m enjoying every moment.”
Beyond the goals, Semenyo’s tireless work rate, intelligent movement and attacking intent have quickly endeared him to City fans, with social media awash with praise after the final whistle at St James’ Park.
He also highlighted the welcoming atmosphere at the club and the role of his teammates in easing his transition.
“The whole environment here is perfect,” he added. “They’ve helped with my confidence and made me feel welcome.”
With belief clearly growing, attention now shifts to City’s next challenge — a high-profile trip to Old Trafford on January 17 — where Semenyo will be eager to extend his remarkable run against Manchester United.
