Ghanaian youngster Joseph Opoku has expressed his excitement after sealing his transfer to English Championship side Swansea City.
The winger completed the move on Thursday, July 23, after signing a four-year contract.
“Swansea City is pleased to confirm the club has reached an agreement to complete the signing of winger Joseph Opoku.
“The 20-year-old signs on a four-year deal which includes the option of an additional 12 months,” an official club statement said.
Subsequently, Opoku joined his new teammates for his first training session as part of the team’s preparations for the 2026/27 football season.
Speaking in an interview after the session, Opoku stressed that he is delighted to be part of the club.
“I’m excited to be here. The first training session was good. It suits my style,” Opoku said as quoted by swanseacity.com.
The Ghanaian youngster continued, “Andre and Jordan Ayew did great things here, I think they are legends in Ghana and they have both captained Ghana national team. I hope I can play well in Swansea to keep the Ghana name high.
“It’s such a special moment for me and my family. You play football for these moments so I was so excited. I think I’m strong, powerful, a goalscorer and can get a lot of assists.”
With his first training session out of the way, Opoku will be eager to impress the technical team in upcoming sessions, in a bid to earn a place in the starting eleven before the start of the new season.
