Legendary Ghana midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari has expressed excitement after recording his first Ghana Premier League victory for Hearts of Oak.
The Phobians bounced back to winning ways against West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) SC at home on Wednesday afternoon with Muntari netting his first goal for the defending Champions,
Hearts of Oak started the game on a blistering pace and dominated their opponents right from the blast of the referee’s whistle.
Hearts hard good chances in the first half of the match but make a good decision in front of goal.
Sulley Muntari continued with his impressive showings in the Ghanaian domestic league with another great performance for the Phobians.
Speaking to StarTimes after the game, the former Inter Milan star said: “I’m pleased but the most important thing is Hearts of Oak,”
“I came in and I got the chance to play for Hearts of Oak, is a big team here, the guys are amazing, the coach the staff so I am very pleased to be here and also the fans are making things right. I am home so it’s just joy to be here.”
The first half ended goalless with the home team dominating the match.
After the recess, Kwadwo Obeng Jnr finally broke the deadlock of the match to put the hosts 1-0 up early in the second half.
WAFA leveled through Owari Henry with a beautiful free-kick to restore parity for the Academy Boys who scored their first away goal this season.
On the 74th minute mark, substitute, Patrick Razak was brought down by the away team’s goalkeeper which resulted in a penalty kick.
Sulley Muntari stepped up and converted the spot kick to give the Phobians their first win in five games in the ongoing 2021-22 Ghana Premier League.
Hearts will play Aduana Stars FC next Sunday in Dormaa whilst WAFA host Real Tamale United FC.
